The List – The Glass Castle, By Jeannette Walls – 4 out of 5 Blessed So and So Smiles
Boy oh boy it has been a long while since I have posted a review from my list.....
I’m still reading, still working away on it, of course I continue to read books that are not on my list, but one day I will accomplish reading all 68 books… I’m sure glad I didn’t set a deadline, this way there is no pressure as long as I’m plugging away I feel good!
Today I will review The Glass Castle, By Jeannette Walls – I read this a while ago – I am way behind on my reviews….
I liked it a lot. It is a memoir about a very troubled childhood – a girl born to parents with a big bag of issues to say the least. A girl that rises above her raising and does really well for herself. I actually thought about making my girls read it, you know - "The you think you’ve got it bad!" thing……
I didn’t… but I thought about it……….
It is inspiring, sometimes shocking and overall very well written. Once again I’m glad for my list; because I am doubtful I would have picked up this book without it!!!
On a side note – today is my Uncle’s birthday……
My favourite Uncle – are we allowed to have favourite Uncles?? I have other Uncles that I love to bits, but this one he’s got a little corner all of his own in my heart. Who knows why – he lived with us when I was young, so maybe that’s it….. either way he brings joy to my life even though he’s pretty rough around the edges. So Happy, happy Birthday to my Ma’s baby brother!!! Love ya!

This was an extremely good read. It was so difficult to comprehend how these people actually lived...made you wonder what really went on in the minds of the parents...some very twisted thinking, obviously. Love your posts. JP
ReplyDeleteI read this a couple years ago and I would definitely recommend it to people. It's an emotionally heavy read but still so well done!
